Hi everyone
After hearing about a mate of mine that left the UK and headed out to Western Australia to get work in the mining industry a couple of years ago, I decided to see if it was possible for me and my family as well. I checked lots of websites and job sites but couldn’t really find anything about Brits moving over to Australia and getting work. Recently I came across your Employment Handbook and bought it. I contacted a number of the companies you told us about and submitted my resumes to them.
Being a mechanic all my adult life (I’m now 44), earning pretty ordinary money, I never knew that my skills and experience were worth so much Australia. About 2 weeks after applying to about 7 companies, I was offered a position at #### mine near ##### as a FIFO worker out of Perth. I had to complete a medical over here and they told me they would sponsor me to move to Australia. The company helped me apply for my 457 visa which allows us to work and live in Oz for 4 years. Not long after we were on our way over to Australia and into a new career on money that I couldn’t imagine back home, not to mention the weather and lifestyle.
